xbox 360 & messenger?

Hi all, happy new year when it comes!! When I turn on my xbox 360 I can sign into xbox live ok but it then says cannot sign into messenger. I have looked at the xbox website but cant find any solutions. Does anybody have any ideas?? Thanks all!!

when ur sign in
just go to CHAT
then there r 5 buttons(conversation1-5)
then clck 1 and sign in……nt sure
but im sure u have to sign in manually
